I almost didn't believe.../ Eu quase não acreditei...

...when my husband got home with this piece of furniture he'd got at a garage sale...It was the first time he'd ever stopped at one:)
 Yes, I know, it`s a bit beaten but it`s got  lots of potential...

...quando meu marido chegou em casa trazendo esse armarinho que ele havia comprado em uma ''garage sale''...Foi a primeira vez na vida  que ele parou em uma!
Eu sei, ele tá meio ''derrubadinho'' mas tem muito potencial!:)- (Atenção que o ''derrubadinho'' aqui é pro armarinho ok?:))))

Look at the drawers..they were all ''stained''with God knows what, and the smell...yuck. I had to litterally wash them so that I could get rid of the smell!

So, following the steps I`ve read in several tutorials I sanded it, primed using a waterbased primer, and painted it. The inside of the drawers also received some coats of paint...they deserved, I mean, they needed it!!:))

I also applied a water based wood stain  on the top. I`ve been testing lots of products and I quite like this one for its convenience :

Olhe as gavetas. Elas estavam todas manchadas com Deus sabe o quê, e o cheiro...eca! Eu tive que literalmente lavá-las pra me livrar do cheiro!

Então, seguindo o ''passo-a-passo'' de vários tutoriais que já andei lendo por aqui, eu o lixei, passei um primer à base de água, e apliquei a tinta. O interior das gavetas também recebeu alguma camadas de tinta..elas bem que mereciam, na realidade, precisavam mesmo!

Também apliquei um produto para tingir a madeira do topo do armarinho. Andei testando vários produtos e gostei desse pela sua conveniência:

B&W Cabinet

I got this cabinet from a goodwill store on Friday...this means it was 50% off:))) . I painted it white and then distressed a little bit using the candle technique . The paper ( cor & contraste) was made in Brazil.Now I just have to find a good spot for it!:)

Este armarinho comprei na goodwill numa sexta - feira. Toda sexta é dia de promoção ou seja, 50% de desconto:))Usei a técnica da vela para fazer a patina. O papel (cor & contraste ) veio do Brasil.Agora só achar um bom lugar para ele:)

From rags to riches

When I got this dresser I believed it deserved a makeover. My friend Cris, mother of 2 cute little girls had this wonderfully illustrated children`s book which we used to decoupage onto the drawers . A new board on the back , some coats of a rich red color and here`s the result!Now I guess it can brighten up any child`s room.
So, what do you think?:))

Quando consegui esta cômoda achei que ela merecia uma reforma. Minha amiga Cris, mãe de duas menininhas fofas , tinha esse livro de histórias infantis com gravuras lindas que usamos pra fazer decoupage nas gavetas da cômoda. Depois foi colar uma nova chapa de madeira nas costas, algumas mãos de tinta vermelha e aí está o resultado! Agora eu acho que ela pode enfeitar o quarto de qualquer criança.
